Michael Enright, ChFC®, CLTC, RICP®
Financial Services Representative
I grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts, and started working at ten years old as a caddy at a local private club. I spent the next decade or so on that golf course, carrying bags through college and watching how successful people approached their money and their lives. The entrepreneurs and business owners I met there had a way of thinking about the future that stuck with me. They asked good questions, made deliberate decisions, and understood that their financial choices had consequences beyond the numbers. That experience shaped how I think about this work today.
After earning my degree in Accountancy from Bentley University, I spent a summer at a brokerage firm where I got to know several advisors personally. Seeing how they worked with clients and solved real problems convinced me this was what I wanted to do. That was 45 years ago. I've spent my entire career in financial services, previously with Prudential, before building my practice here at Baystate Financial.
What keeps me motivated is simple: I get to sit down with people and help them figure out what they're trying to accomplish. Some of my clients are doctors I've worked with for years. Others are families trying to coordinate their finances across multiple generations or business owners managing both personal and company decisions. The common thread is that they need someone who can look at their whole situation and help them make sense of it. I'm that person.
I explain things in terms that actually make sense, not industry jargon, and I work as the quarterback for their financial affairs, coordinating with their other advisors when needed.
My practice focuses on comprehensive financial planning with particular emphasis on retirement income planning. I hold the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®), and Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC) designations, all through The American College. I also speak regularly on various financial topics at local companies, organizations, and industry groups.
The most interesting part of working with clients is seeing how different everyone's level of financial knowledge is. Some people come in with a strong grasp of investment principles. Others are just getting started and need education before they can make informed decisions. Meeting people where they are and giving them the information they need to move forward is what I do best.
I live in Falmouth on Cape Cod with my wife, Sharon. We have two sons. My oldest son is a junior advisor on our team and will eventually take over the business, which gives me tremendous pride. My youngest son, Dan, works as a research analyst in the medical field. My family is why I built this practice the way I did. They're the reason I understand what it means to think in generations, not just in quarters.
When I'm not working, you'll probably find me on a golf course. I learned the game young through my years at that private club, and my father, mother, and sister were all avid golfers as well. I also follow all the local Boston sports teams. We're relatively new to Falmouth and looking to get more involved in the community. We're members of the local Catholic parish here, and I'm also a member of FINSECA, a professional organization for financial advisors.
